Sept 29, 2022 Daikin India To Double Sales By 2025
Daikin India is expecting sales to double by 2025 after registering tenfold revenue over the past decade. Opportunity for growth is tremendous as only 5% of homes and offices in India have air conditioners.
Daikin main competitor will be Voltas Ltd, a local manufacturer. Daikin is currently building a third factory in India that is able to produce 3 million units a year.
Current domestic market is valued at US$2.1 billion.
Sept 27, 2022 USA Senate Consent To Ratify Kigali Amendment
USA Senate has given the consent to ratify the Kigali Amendment on Sept 21, 2022.
When ratified, a total of 138 countries would have signed this Amendment to reduce the usage of HFC refrigerants that caused global warming.

Aug 22, 2022 Daikin Provides Free Access to 419 Patents
Daikin Industries, Ltd. has added 120 new patents to its “Pledge of Non-Assertion of Patents Relating to the Manufacture and Sale of Equipment Using R32." With this, a total of 419 patents can now be used without prior permission or contract from Daikin. This will help to facilitate the adoption of R32 refrigerant a refrigerant which has a lower GWP compared to many other refrigerants.
Aug 19, 2022 India - Daikin India To Invest Rs500 crore
Daikin India will invest Rs500 crore over the next three years to build it's third R&D Center in India to be located at Neemrama, Rajasthan. The 24,000sqm center will employ more than 250 engineers to develop products for India market. It will also has 22 new testing facilities when completed.
The center is scheduled to be ready for operations in 2023.

Viessmann invests €200 million to expand its factory in Poland. When completed in 2023, it will supply heat pumps to markets in Central and Eastern Europe. The factory is located in Legnica, Poland.
Viessmann was founded in 1917 and has over 13,500 employees globally today. It's headquarter is located in Allendorf, Germany with factories in 12 countries. Group turnover of €3.4 billion in 2021.
July 12, 2022 - Tajikistan ratified Kigali Amendment
Tajikistan is the latest country to ratify the Kigali Amendment on June 29, 2022.
With this ratification, a total of 136 countries have signed this Amendment to reduce the usage of HFC refrigerants that caused global warming.
July 8, 2022 Osaka, Japan - Daikin to build $300 million factory in Poland
Daikin Industries, one of the world's top air conditioner manufacturers will be building a $300 million factory in Poland. This factory will produce heat pumps and is scheduled to start operation in 2024. The factory will be located at Lodz Province, central Poland and will have an annual capacity of 1.5 million units by 2030.

Daikin Applied is set to increase its price by up to 12% on commercial heating, ventilation and air-conditioning equipment. This increase will apply to new orders from May 25, 2022 onwards.
April 26, 2022 UK - Toshiba Carrier UK Launches Heat Pumps Using R32 Refrigerant
Toshiba Carrier UK has launched a lower GWP R-32 Refrigerant Heat Pumps providing space heating as well as domestic hot water (DHW). There are four models available in the ESTIA range, from 4-11kW.
It is using Toshiba award-winning twin rotary compressor with energy efficiency rating of A+++.
It can deliver 62°C hot water even if the outdoor temperature drops to -25°C.

Voltas India has launched India's first inverter air conditioners with Hepa Filter that will provide filtration besides cooling. The AC will be able to trap airborne particulates in the air, providing a cleaner air to the space being cooled. Low GWP (Global Warming Potential) R32 refrigerant is also being used. It will be able to keep users comfortable even with a temperature of 52°C.

Feb 21, 2022 - World Refrigeration Day(WRD) Theme: "Cooling Matters”
World Refrigeration Day is held every year on 26 June.
Steve Gill, the founder of WRD had announced that the theme for 2022 will be "Cooling Matters" and said “Our objective is to make the public aware of cooling’s essential benefits, how cooling impacts daily life, and how technology choices foster environmental well-being of future generations.”
According to UNEP(United Nations Environment Program) OzonAction, there are 3.6 billion cooling units in use today and by 2050, that number is expected to be 9.5 billion.
Refrigeration will also help to reduce food waste globally.

Jan 27, 2022 - Eiffel Tower's New Cooling System Using Honeywell R-1234ze Refrigerant
Honeywell's R-1234ze refrigerant which has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of less than 1 has been used in the new cooling system at Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. Previous cooling system was using R-407C refrigerant which has a GWP of 1,774.
The new system is installed at the west pillar of the tower where the souvenir shop, information center and a lift are located.
R-1234ze is an alternative refrigerant to R-134a which is used in chillers, heat pumps, refrigerators and vending machines.

Rheem announced on Jan 12, 2022 that it had acquired DEJONG, a producer of stainless-steel hot water tanks. DEJONG was established in 1859 and is based in Gorredijk, Netherlands.
The tanks are used in applications such as solar, heat pump and boiler configurations.

Jan 10, 2022 - Daikin Launched ATMOSFERA with R-32 Refrigerant
Daikin North America has launched single zone ductless split heat pumps using R-32 refrigerant with capacity from 9,000 to 24,000 BTU. Efficiencies can go up to 27.4 SEER, 13.8 HSPF and 16.3 EER. These models are more efficient than their R-410A predecessors.
The R-32 refrigerant is a A2L refrigerant that is being used worldwide by more than 40 manufacturers.
