Houston - January 12, 2021 Daikin Acquires ABCO HVACR Supply + Solutions Company  

Daikin today announced the acquisition of ABCO HVACR Supply + Solutions Company, a leading distributor of HVAC and refrigeration systems and supplies in the Northeastern of the United States, head quartered in Long Island City, New York.

This purchase helps the company to expand its distribution in the Northeast.


Houston - January 4, 2021 Goodman Acquires Robinson Supply Company  

Goodman today announced the acquisition of Robinson Supply Company, a distributor of Daikin, Goodman and Amana brands in the residential unitary and light commercial products.

This purchase helps the company to expand its distribution in the Northeast. At the moment, Robinson has a total of seven branches spread over Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island.

Broad-Ocean Motor has joined the Carrier Alliance Supplier Program and will be supplying high-efficiency, intelligent and hermetic motor products to Carrier.


Dec 18, 2020 - Danfoss joins Carrier Alliance Supplier Program

Danfoss A/S has joined the Carrier Alliance Supplier Program and will be supplying compressors, valves, heat exchangers and drives to Carrier.

Dec 9, 2020 

Danfoss has announced the release of the second version of the industrial refrigeration evaporator controller EKE 400. It can support DX evaporators and can do defrost sequence for ammonia, CO2, HFC and HCFC based systems.

The CoolConfig software makes it easier to do the setting of multiple EKE400 in the refrigeration system.

It can also integrate with third party equipment through MODBUS communication where users can have access to most parameters in EKE400 which include gas concentration, alarm settings, set-points, etc.



Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. - Dec 7, 2020 

Carrier signed agreement to sell it's remaining interest in Beijer Ref AB to a fund managed by global investment firm EQT for a total value of about US$1.1 billion.

Beijing Ref provides commercial and industrial refrigeration; and also heating and air conditioning products and is listed on the Nasdaq Stockholm.


November 2020 

Daikin has announced the appointment of Masaaki Miyatake as the new Daikin Middle East and Africa (MEA) Chairman and President. He joined Daikin in Japan as a sales engineer 30 years ago and joined Daikin MEA in Dubai in July 2020.

His team won the 2017 "Energy Conservation Grand Prize" and "Energy Conservation Center Chairman's Award" when they developed an inverter heat pump modular chiller product.


Tokyo, Japan - November 27, 2020 

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Thermal Systems will launch R32 refrigerant single fan and multiple room outdoor unit air conditioners for the European market in December 2020.

Six models with 4, 5 and 5.5 hp capacity will be available using single-phase and three-phase alternating current. The compressor motor will be changed from distributed winding to concentrated winding type with better performance and lower standby power consumption.

BRACKNELL, UK, Nov 20, 2020 

Two Panasonic products - Aquarea J-Series Air Source Heat Pump and Cold Chain C02 refrigeration unit have been shortlisted in two categories for the RAC Cooling Awards.

The Aquarea J-Series uses R32 refrigerant which has zero impact on the earth's ozone depletion layer and also less impact on global warming. 

Cold Chain C02 refrigeration unit uses the environmental-friendly C02. This unit is also able to switch between chill or freeze mode.

The results of the awards will be announced virtually on 9th Dec 2020.



Shanghai, China - November 20, 2020 

Carrier China will be providing HVAC solutions to improve the air quality of Guangzhou Respiratory Center through Carrier's Healthy Buildings Program.

Thousands of airside products with ultra-violet lights to ensure good indoor air quality will be used.

Highly efficient chillers and heat pumps equipment will also be installed. The center which will have 1,200 beds is scheduled to be operational in the summer of 2021.



Palm Beach Gardens, Fla, USA - November 19, 2020

Carrier's OptiCleanTM product has been named as one of TIME's 100 Best Inventions of 2020. It was invented in respond to Covid-19 pandemic to provide safe environment for indoor air in schools, hospitals, homes and other applications.

It has a minimum of MERV 7 pre-filter and a HEPA filter. The HEPA filter can last up to 40,000 hours or 4 years of normal operations and maintenance.

The HEPA filter is able to remove 99.97% of contaminants including microbes as small as 0.3 microns.

The OptiCleanTM is also able to create a negative air-pressure in the space to prevent contaminated air from flowing out of the space, protecting occupants in other parts of the building. The contaminated air is trapped by the HEPA filter and clean air is discharged to the space.






Atlanta, Georgia, USA - November 17, 2020 

Honeywell today launched the Electronic Air Cleaners with UV systems and IAQ sensors in helping to remove contaminants from the air as well as filter and disinfect them without significant drop in air flow in commercial buildings.

The UV system uses ultraviolet light to damage the DNA of certain microbes and inactivate various fungal, bacterial and viral organisms. See more here.

Daikin North America today appointed Doug Widenmann as Senior Vice President and President of Daikin North America LLC.

He has 34 years of experience in HVAC industry and has been with Daikin for the last 9 years. Prior to that he was with Johnson Controls, Wolverine Tube, Rheem and Trane.

CAREL plant in Suzhou has a new production line that is used exclusively to manufacture Electronic Expansion Valves.

The valves are used in many applications  such as data centres, shopping centres, automotive sector and refrigerated showcases.


HVACR News: Singapore - November 10, 2020  

Daikin Industries, Ltd will provide a district cooling system for Tengah Town in Singapore.

This project will be carried out in collaboration with Singapore Power Group covering all residences in this smart city. 30% life cycle costs savings is realized at each household compared to individual air conditioners installment. Other public facilities will also have high energy-saving equipment.

A district cooling system is a cooling system that supplies water cooled from a high-efficiency modular chiller to fan coil units that are installed in homes and buildings. Charges will be based on a "subscription model" according to the time used.

Significant energy-savings will be achieved as air conditioners currently occupy 40% of the total electricity consumption at households.

The Tengah Town is a futuristic new city that will consist of 42,000 residences with a total area of 700 hectares. It will start accepting residents in 2023.

Panasonic Malaysia - Oct 26, 2020

Panasonic Malaysia announced that it's nanoeTMX technology is able to inhibit the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). The verification was done by Texcell. The hydroxyl radicals generated by nanoeTMX is able to inhibit pathogenic microbes (bacteria, fungi and viruses) and allergens, breaking down Particulate Matter (PM2.5) that have adverse effects on the human body.

Panasonic Launched "Radiant Cooling" Air-Conditioners

Panasonic launched the Elite Inverter Sky Series range of  single split air-conditioners from 1hp-3hp. The working principle is based on the "Coanda Effect" which is similar to the natural cooling effect in the caves. The cooled air is directed to the ceiling and walls instead of towards the occupants. 

In this way, the ceiling and walls will provide the radiant cooling effect and hence give better comfort to us. The occupants will not feel the discomfort of the chilled air blowing towards them. Other features include back-lited remote control, dust sensor and sliding LED panel. See the video below.
